This position is not currently available; this is an anticipated near-term opportunity that will be located in Spokane, WA. Details of the position follow:The Community Coordinators, located at each VLER Health Community, will coordinate and guide the local implementation efforts. They will draw from the lessons learned at the first site, VA-Kaiser Permanente-DoD in San Diego, to evolve a more adapted and efficient implementation for their situation. Furthermore, they will work closely together to continuously learn from each other and refine their plans. Finally, they will compile their lessons learned and assist the VA in scaling these information exchanges from a few pilot sites to a national roll out benefiting the complete Veteran population.Specifically, the Community Coordinator will oversee the following specific tasks:1. Establish local points of contact within each of the exchange partners (e.g., the local VA medical centers, military hospitals and clinics, private sector healthcare organizations, local health information exchanges and others) -In particular, build strong relationship with the VAMC medical director, director of informatics, and privacy/Health Information Management office, as their support and involvement with clinician adoption and patient recruitment in the pilot are critical. -Communicate mission, scope and timelines of the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) and Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) efforts and learn from local community initiatives and other Federal government projects -Coordinate in conjunction with the VA central team the local aspects of the VLER implementation including patient enrolment into the pilot, patient authorization, patient matching, provider communications, provider training, and solution performance evaluation -Maintain and foster a close relationship with the other VLER Health Communities and with the VA VLER/NHIN central team to share and learn collaboratively from each pilot site2. Assimilate and adapt lessons learned from the San Diego project and other NHIN Initiatives to accelerate the pace of health information exchange consistent with the NHIN and VLER missions3. Work synergistically with local initiatives and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health IT Regional Extension Centers (HITREC) project to foster ?meaningful? EHR adoption in the local communityQualifications:U.S. Citizenship is requiredAA/EOERequirements:Minimum of 5 years clinical or technical experience with VA or DOD health care system.Minimum of 5 years experience in the coordination of various stakeholder groups.Minimum education: a bachelors degree, with masters preferredMinimum of 2 years developing formal project plans and presentations and presenting to executive leadership and stakeholders.Knowledge of health information exchange between VA and DOD or VA and private partners or DOD and private partners.Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Each Community Coordinator shall have the following knowledge and skills:Health Care Systems and Health Information Exchange: -Thorough knowledge of private and public health care systems;-Experience working in a health care system; and-Understanding of technical requirements for health information exchange between private and public sector partners.Communications, Marketing, and Education Practices:-Ability to develop focused communications for a variety of audiences;-Ability to communicate with various stakeholders and partners;-Ability to work effectively with organizations of various sizes and complexity;-Experience developing education and marketing materials; and-Ability to negotiate and problem resolution.Program or Project Management Approach:-Ability to develop and maintain a formal project plan and schedule in accordance with established project management processes as defined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge;-Demonstrated ability to execute a project plan using established processes;-Ability to create and deliver formal presentations to VA management and executive leadership and VA stakeholders;-Ability to produce well written, organized and succinct reports; and-Ability to manage competing priorities and to adjust quickly and efficiently to changes in work direction.
