Categories: TherapistsSt. Luke?s Rehabilitation InstituteJob DescriptionOccupational Therapist Reports To:Rehabilitation Services ManagerPurpose:To provide direct patient care by utilizing appropriate knowledge and skills in collaboration with other members of the health care team; To provide skilled, creative, discipline-specific therapeutic services to a caseload of patients (this includes evaluation of all assigned patients, the development of a patient centered treatment plan, administration and implementation of the treatment program, periodic reassessment and discharge planning). Each Therapist is responsible for the health and safety of all patients in his or her care. Occupational Therapists may clinically supervise assistants, aids, students, volunteers or other supportive personnel.Essential Requirements:Staff Clinician 1:Registered /eligible AOTA. Washington State licensure, or eligible. Graduate of approved educational program and eligible to take licensure exam. Will function under supervision of OTR/L. Washington State licensure, or eligible. Less than two full years-licensed relevant clinical experience.Staff Clinician 2:Graduate of approved program and Washington State licensure, or eligible. Two or more years license relevant clinical experience.Staff Clinician 3:Graduate of approved program and Washington State licensure, or eligible. More than five years of relevant clinical experience with at least two years in a specific program area as well as 24 hours continuing education in specialization.Clinical Specialist 1: Graduate of approved program and Washington State licensure, or eligible. Minimum 5 years experience with 4 years in specialization area. Meets all Staff Clinician III requirements including Annual Clinical Ladder Checklist. 50% established certification achieved 60 contact hours of continued education in area of specialization. Complete case study to St. Luke?s expanded audience. At least one professional activity from Professional Expertise Activity List completed since beginning of credentialing period.Clinical Specialist 2:Graduate of approved program and Washington State licensure, or eligible. Minimum 6 years experience with 6 years in specialization area. Meets all Clinical Specialist I requirements including Annual Clinical Ladder Checklist Full completion of certification. 100 contact hours of continued education in area of specialization. Completed case study requirements of Clinical Specialist I to St. Luke?s expanded audience. Provide evidence to Clinical Ladder Advisory Panel of at least 4 professional activity from Professional Expertise Activity List completed since beginning of credentialing period.Clinical Specialist 3:Graduate of approved program and Washington State licensure, or eligible. Minimum 8 years experience with 8 years in specialization area. Meets all Clinical Specialist II requirements including Annual Clinical Ladder Checklist. Completion/maintenance of certification. 130 contact hours of continued education in area of specialization. Completed case study requirements of Clinical Specialist I to SLRI expanded audience. Provide evidence to Clinical Ladder Advisory Panel of at least 4 professional activity from Professional Expertise Activity List completed since beginning of credentialing period. Essential Requirements for All Levels:?Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods.?Ability to push and pull objects up to 30 pounds, unassisted, on a frequent basis (occasionally up to 80 pounds, unassisted).?Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds, unassisted, on a frequent basis, (occasionally up to 100 pounds, unassisted).?Ability to carry objects up to 20 pounds, unassisted, on a frequent basis, (occasionally up to 30 pounds, unassisted).?Full use of gross and fine motor skills of the upper and lower extremities (i.e., treatments, writing notations, operating bed wheel locks, etc.).?Ability to read charts and testing equipment. Essential Functions:Staff Clinician 11.Complete self-evaluations on Certificate of Clinical Competency and Non-Clinical Evaluation;2.Complete all mandatory orientation and in-servicing;3.Have acceptable continuing education plan developed and approved by the Program Manager/Director, with goal of achieving general clinical competency;4.Provide patient care 90 - 100% if time, to patients of varying ages, demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development of patients served;5.Effectively interact with all staff to coordinate patient care, promote continuity of care and interpret the plan of care;6.In the course of providing direct patient care, be accountable for appropriate and timely documentation;7.Demonstrate clinical skills and professional judgment;8.Maintain patient safety and work cooperatively with support staff;9.Assess data reflective of the patient?s status and interpret the appropriate information needed (described in department or program policies and procedures);10.Demonstrate self-direction and professionalism by participating in educational activities, utilizing department personnel resources in dealing with patients in restorative, functional and preventative therapeutic programs;11.Be accountable for promoting the corporate philosophy of service excellence and guest relations by effectively relating with patients, their families/caregivers, visitors, the public and all members of the staff of St. Luke?s Rehabilitation Institute;12.Consistently demonstrate behavior that enhances professional performance and reflects the key moral commitments, ethical principles, values and philosophy of the institute as set forward in the mission statement.Staff Clinician 2Includes Staff Clinician 1 Functions above and the following:1.Assume greater role as clinical mentor for less experienced staff, and will orient new staff to program and discipline;2.Provide support to staff in development of orientation plan, evaluation process and criteria, and program enhancement;3.Participate in community outreach activities;4.Continuing education plan must have goal of specific clinical competency or equivalent focused education.Staff Clinician 3Includes Staff Clinician 1 Functions above and the following:1.Besides direct patient care 50 - 100% if therapist?s time, the Level III therapist will have specific duties to be defined in consultation and with approval of the Program Manager/Director;2.Assume responsibility for the development and implementation of the program and discipline specific orientation plan;3.Be responsible for clinical evaluations of discipline specific staff;4.Develop patient education curriculum and materials; May provide specific components of patient education as part of regular responsibilities;5.Work collaboratively with Program Director, Program Manager, other Level III staff, Case Management and Public Relations/Marketing staff in the development and implementation of outreach activities;6.Function as clinical resource for team members. Clinical Specialist 1, 2 and 3Includes Staff Clinician 1 functions above and the following:1.Besides direct patient care 50 - 100% of therapist?s time, the Staff Clinician 3 therapist will have specific duties to be defined in consultation and with approval of the Program Manager/Director;2.Assume responsibility for the development and implementation of the program and discipline specific orientation plan;3.Be responsible for clinical evaluations of discipline specific staff;4.Develop patient education curriculum and materials; May provide specific components of patient education as part of regular responsibilities;5.Work collaboratively with Program Director, Program Manager, other staff, Case Management and Public Relations/Marketing staff in the development and implementation of outreach activities;6.Function as clinical resource for team members.7.Complete one professional expertise activity to maintain level.
